The purpose of this volunteer group is to assist NWSS staff and consultants with the day-to-day functions of the art room and the Red Carpet Reception and sale.  Volunteers assigned to this area greet and work with the artists and public, and process art sales. The Art Room Volunteer Captain is the liaison between volunteers, NWSS staff and NWSS consultants.  Details of the day-to-day functions will be covered during volunteer training sessions.  Extra training will be required for volunteers working in this area.

Volunteers assisting in this area are to maintain the hospitality area for the rodeo cowboys.  Providing water, coffee, and snacks to the contestants and their families as well as lending a helping hand when needed.  Only 8-10 volunteers are needed, and are present for all of the rodeo performances.  Many long hours are spent in this volunteer area.

Qualified volunteers are needed to assist staff in event production as well as assist exhibitors and/or performers during ticketed events occurring in the Events Center during the National Western.

Volunteers provide valuable production support, behind-the-scenes support and staff assistance to help facilitate ticketed events, including, but not limited to the Dodge Invitational Freestyle Reining, Gambler's Choice Open Jumper Stake, Wild West Shows, Super Dogs, Jack Daniels Grand Prix, An Evening of Dancing Horses, National Western Draft & Mule Show and other events, as needed.

Volunteers are necessary for the successful production of these events and in order to promote the goals of the NWSS. They are committed to education of youth in agriculture. The National Western needs a variety of people to do unique activities that flow into a functioning performance. Among the following bullets are a list of jobs that a volunteer may be asked to perform. Dates and times in this service area are dependant on need and published ticketed events plus pre-production needs.

Volunteers in this service area will work under the direction of the event producer, the show manager and the captain of this service area, and will work closely with the volunteers in the Horse Shows service area

To better understand the equine-related events occurring during the National Western.  Volunteers provide information and hospitality to promote the goals of the NWSS.  They are committed to education of youth in agriculture.  The National Western Horse Show needs a variety of people to do unique activities that flow into a functioning class or event.  Among the following bullets is a list of jobs that a volunteer may be asked to perform.  Schedules for horse show volunteers—plan to work just that department on that day.  Horse Show hours begin earlier and shifts run later than other volunteer areas.  Qualified volunteers are needed to assist staff, exhibitors and visitors to enjoy and shifts run later than other volunteer service areas.  Volunteer hours may start as early as 7:00 AM.

The incident reporting group provides assistance to the NWSS staff by preparing reports on incident, which include personal injury, property damage, vehicle accident and theft. Information for the reports is obtained from commercial vendors, livestock owners, the public, employees and volunteers.

Volunteers working in an information booth are provided a book detailing the Complex and its events.   The purpose is to provide information about the events, direct people to the proper location of events or exhibits, and answer questions.  If you are an enthusiastic and friendly person who likes to greet guests and provide assisistance then consider an information booth position.

Volunteers provide a "personal touch" so critical to serving the international guest.  Developing a professional staff of closely working volunteers can make a lasting impression on guests and members.  The mission of the National Western International Agri-Business Center (NWIAC) is to encourage and foster international participation by providing a social and educational environment for trade development to occur.

This group is to assist the livestock superintendents, exhibitors and staff with livestock such as cattle, poultry swine, llamas, sheep, and goats.  The exhibitors have a great deal of time, money, and heart invested in their animals.  They are under a great deal of pressure, and naturally they want a smoothly run event that will enable them to show these animals to their best advantage.

Volunteers assist in the Activity Pavilion, one of the National Western’s newest venues, where numerous activities for children and families are held. NWSS volunteers in this service area will help direct school groups and families to the Backstage with Rodeo Clown performances and conduct activities such as the Stick Horse Grand Prix, Stick Horse Rodeo and Pedal Tractor Races. Other activities include Super Dog Meet and Greet and Dancing With Dogs performances, the Wild West Show Preview and evening social events.

We spend our days making little kids (and their Moms and Dads) happy. Volunteers will have lots and lots of fun putting on the liveliest events at the Stock Show! We guarantee you’ll be active, you’ll be busy and your smile muscles will be aching at the end of every shift.

Volunteers also assist the Marketing Department year-round to promote the NWSS. Events may be at the Complex or off-site locations and include Cheyenne Frontier Days, Girl Scout Expo, Rotary, Kiwanis and other luncheons and the Boots ‘n Business luncheon. Most such events consist of running the NWSS booth, handing out flyers and general information for promotion of the Stock Show.

Local Rodeo Royalty are goodwill ambassadors and can sign up by calling the NWSS. Royalty volunteers will assist in the Activity Pavilion and elsewhere in the Complex during the Stock Show and promote the NWSS as well as their rodeo, riding club, county fair and the western way of life

The National Western Stock Show Kick-Off Parade is held in Downtown Denver the first Tuesday of the opening week of the show.  Volunteers who want to help can sign up at the Scheduling Event.

The photography group provides qualified volunteers to take photographs for the Commercial Exhibits Office during the Stock Show.  These photographs will be used to help a judging group select the exhibits that show the best design and display. These photographs will also be used to remember what a display looked like when that exhibitor applies for space at next year's show.  Some of the photos will be used in either a slide show or photo display to assist with sales of facilities for future shows.

The National Western Stock Show is an educational event for the school children of Colorado.  Many schools schedule field trips to the NWSS each year.  School tours are held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily, weekdays only, however many school buses show up during the day without being scheduled.  Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays only.

Usher and ticket taker volunteers must be outgoing, friendly and able to comfortably approach visitors to offer assistance. They also must become completely knowledgeable about every aspect of the Stock Show, particularly in the areas of tickets and admittance, and seating in the Events Center.

This group assists staff and provides qualified driver volunteers to pick up judges at the airport and transport other VIP personnel associated with the Stock Show.  Volunteers of the VIP Pick-up volunteer service area also drive a shuttle between the Hall of Education and Coliseum during rodeo events for Will-Call ticket customers.

The Volunteer Center is a busy place during the NWSS, with volunteers coming and going at all times.  It is the nerve center of the entire volunteer operation, where assignments are made, volunteer records are kept, and volunteers are directed to respond to areas where needed.
