The life-and-one-quarter-size statue of a cowboy standing in downtown Denver in honor of the National Western’s 100th anniversary will serve dual purposes. The statue, created by Cowboy Artist Herb Mignery will not only represent National Western’s role in Denver’s western heritage, but also will serve as a visible award in honor of the Citizens of the West. Each year, a name will be added to the pedestal near the statue to commemorate a new Citizen of the West award winner, giving that award even greater visibility..
