2012 Junior Market Show Information & Updates

The NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW Will Implement the Following Changes For the 2012 National Western Junior Market Shows!

** These changes are in addition to the General Rules and Health Requirements for the Show! **

  1. JUNIOR MARKET SHOW IN GENERAL:

    1. The participant, immediate family (father, mother, brothers and sisters only) in whose name the animal is owned and any junior exhibitor entered in the Junior Market show, will be allowed to help wash, groom and fit the animal after arriving on National Western Stock Show grounds. Participant must be present during any feeding, fitting and processing. Anyone found in violation of this rule may be subject to immediate disqualification without recourse. Family members will be issued wrist bands from the Livestock Office.
    2. All sale animals will be drug tested. All non sale animals are subject to random testing.
    3. Exhibitor must be present for weigh-in and check-in.
    4. All Junior Market Beef, Lamb and Goat Exhibitors will need to request a DNA Test kit. (one kit per animal) You may go to www.nationalwestern.com and download your request form.

  2. JUNIOR MARKET BEEF SHOW:

    1. The ownership/nomination date is September 15.
    2. The entry deadline is November 1, 2011.
    3. We no longer require a nose print with your nomination, DNA hair sample only!
    4. Each exhibitor may enter 5 head (steers or heifers) and bring 4 head.
    5. There will now be a Blow‘n Go Showmanship Contest the night before the Junior Market Beef Show. There will be a separate judge for the Showmanship Show. This is a part of the Premier Exhibitor Contest.

  3. JUNIOR MARKET SWINE SHOW:

    1. The following rule will be strictly enforced “Water and shampoo only will be permitted in wash rack area”. No additional compounds of any kind will be allowed. Also, no glitter on sale pigs and oil only on feet. Any swine found with additional compounds will be immediately disqualified. (This rule is same as last year)
    2. One bag of shavings will be included with every entry. Additional shavings must be purchased from the National Western Feed Office. NO outside shavings will be allowed.
    3. REMINDER!! The Junior Market Swine Show is a purebred show with registration papers required by the NSR/NJSA and Team Purebred. The registration papers MUST be transferred to the Jr Exhibitor’s name by December 1!

  4. JUNIOR MARKET LAMBS:

    1. The ownership date is November 1, 2011, same as the entry deadline.
    2. The reweigh variance will be 5%, not 5 lbs.
    3. No muzzles will be allowed at anytime.
    4. The exhibitor may enter up to 4 Lambs but may only bring 3.
    5. DNA hair sample only! Please go to our web-site to print out your DNA kit request form.

  5. JUNIOR MARKET GOATS:

    1. The ownership date is November 1, 2011, same as the entry deadline.
    2. The reweigh variance will be 5%, not 5 lbs.
    3. The exhibitor may enter up to 4 goats but may only bring 3.
    4. DNA hair sample only! Please go to our web-site to print out your DNA kit request form.
