The National
Western Scholarship Fund has awarded grants to 27 new students for the
2001-02 college term. The fund supports 58 annual scholarships from $1,500
to $4,500 at colleges in Colorado and Wyoming.
Casper
College Added to Scholarship Program
The
addition of Wyoming's Casper College to the National Western Scholarship
program helped increase the number of scholarships awarded from 51 to
58 annually, Committee Chairman Dr. Robert Shideler announced.
The National Western grants, awarded to colleges in Colorado and Wyoming,
range from $1,500 to $4,500 each year.
Twenty-seven students were added to the program for the 2001-02 college
term. The new recipients are:
Casper College - Julie Amick, Meeker, Colo., and Adam Jones, St
Francis, Kan.
Colorado State University - Sara Albertson, Fruita, Colo., Jeremy
Burkett, Hillsale, Wyo., Cristen Cleland, Erie, Colo., Chad Cochran, Monte
Vista, Colo., Crystal George, Ovid, Colo., Laura Godowski, Fort Collins,
Colo., Ty Groshens, Otis, Colo., Nathan Jaeger, Silt, Colo., Katherine
Miller, Fort Collins, Colo., Chad Murnin, Miles City, Mont. and Jennifer
Sauer, Byers, Colo.
Lamar Community College - Maggie Burger, Arvada, Colo. and Kyle
Wait, Campo, Colo.
Laramie County Community College- Trevor Bekken, Lander, Wyo.,
Laura Pelto, Cheyenne, Wyo. and Reed Wold, Oracle, Ariz.
Northeastern Junior College- Trevor Amen, Fort Morgan, Colo.,
Jacob Bachman, Platteville, Colo. and Bo Sexton, Hasty, Colo.

Except for medical and graduate studies, all applicants must have participated
in the National Western during the January show through exhibiting, judging,
volunteering, Westernaires, a sanctioned FFA or 4- H project or competed
in an event for which preparation and training are required.
