2001 National Western College Scholarships

 28 New Students Enter Scholarship Program

The National Western Scholarship Fund has awarded grants to 28 new students for the 2000-01 college term, Scholarship Committee Chairman Dr. Robert Shideler has announced.

   The fund supports 51 annual scholarships from $1,000 to $4,000 at colleges in Colorado and Wyoming.

    Colorado State University in Fort Collins - Abram Babcock, Fort Morgan, Colo., Tiffany Barr, Pueblo, Colo., Laura Behrends, Wharton, Texas, Kimberly Elsner, Pine, Colo., Erin Epperson, Fort Collins, Colo., Noelle Grether, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Desirae Jacobs, Broomfield, Colo., Erin Konkel, Johnstown, Colo., Krista May, Byers, Colo., Steven Sharkey, Fort Collins, Colo., Molly Waneka, Lafayette, Colo. and Roy Webb, Colorado Springs, Colo.

    University of Wyoming in Laramie - Dawson MacLennon, Byers, Colo., Amanda O�Brien, Aberdeen, Idaho, Ryan Rapp, Lusk, Wyo., Jenny Redland, Hyshan, Mont., Rebecca Torpy, Atkinson, Neb., Matt Vercimak, Kaycee, Wyo. and Amanda Weber, Arapahoe, Wyo.
   Awarded grants to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley are Lisa Annis, Pierce, Colo. and Lynne Collins, Fort Morgan, Colo.

   Junior College Scholarships - Tyler Hodgson, La Porte, Colo., to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.; Christopher Colflesh, Meeker, Colo., Emily Cox, Hillsdale, Wyo. and Justina Rowland, Burns, Wyo., to Laramie (Wyo.) Community College; and Mary Moreland, Olathe, Colo., and Dustin Wyckoff, Arlington, Colo., to Lamar (Colo.) Community College.

   The 2000 University of Colorado School of Medicine residency grant in rural practice went to Jennifer Kieca Craig of Denver.

   Except for medical and graduate studies, all applicants must have participated in the National Western by exhibiting, judging, volunteering or taking part in a sanctioned FFA or 4-H project.
